Our Expertise.

Reading.

From early literacy to advanced reading comprehension, we consult research to choose the most effective teaching methods. For students with dyslexia and other reading challenges, we are trained in multi-sensory methods. For reading comprehension and higher level skills, we explicitly teach advanced comprehension strategies.

Learning Differences.

Our specialists have received years of specialized training to support students with learning differences. We provide instruction individualized to their needs as described by their diagnostic evaluations. Sometimes it involves teaching in various ways until we find what resonates with the student. Of course, this always includes lots of practice to build confidence and independence.

Writing.

It is important for all students to effectively communicate and express their ideas in writing, and we are trained to help them build that competency. For our youngest students, we work on handwriting, spelling, and letter formation. From there, we move on to writing sentences, paragraphs, and cohesive essays. Many of our students benefit from executive functioning strategies to improve their writing process.

Homework Support.

Sometimes you don’t need anything fancy. With full-time jobs, busy schedules, and parents who may not have a teaching background, it can be hard to stay on top of your student’s homework. By pre-teaching, reteaching, and filling in learning gaps, we make sure homework is done correctly and on time.

Mathematics.

Students often struggle in math because of gaps in foundational skills. We identify the gaps and work to build students’ confidence and understanding. For early learners, it is important that students form a strong number sense. From this foundation, they begin to build computation skills and application through word problems. As math problems grow increasingly complex, students often benefit from executive functioning strategies embedded in math instruction.

Homeschool Support.

For homeschooling programs, our primary goal is always to understand the purpose of homeschooling. When we understand why you homeschool, we can provide consultation and various levels of instructional support in service of your goals.

Executive Functioning.

In school, your child uses Executive Function Skills to plan for future assignments, sustain attention to tasks, and stay organized. For some students, these tasks are like climbing a mountain: they don’t know where or how to start! We’ll identify and institute strategies to position your child to succeed with organization, time management, and study skills.

Educational Advocacy.

We can assist your family through the entire process of obtaining services for your child or ensuring that he or she is currently receiving appropriate services.  This can also be in the form of obtaining a complete evaluation to determine if your child is in need of Special Education supports and services through an IEP (Individualized Educational Plan).
